Our Story
BARK! Canine Club & Resort is for our dogs, Wilbur and Wrigley. The concept arose when we took note of the challenge of getting enough exercise for the dogs in the hot summer months. We moved to Mesquite from a 2-acre country setting in Indiana, where they enjoyed lots of space to roam around, and we wanted them to have a comfortable, safe place to run and play. The solution: Indoor dog park! Expanding on the idea of an indoor play park, we decided to add other related services, including Doggie Day Care, Boarding, Grooming & Training. The park will also include dock-diving and agility facilities, where we can host competitions and fun events. Partnerships with local and nearby rescue organizations will provide playtime and adoption events for the dogs in their care.
In addition to the indoor park facility, our vision includes a spacious, outdoor park with trails, ponds and landscaped areas of interest. Finally, the space will include a Travelers’ Rest area that will provide a safe place for dogs traveling through Mesquite to take a break from the leash while their owners fill the gas tank and grab a bite.
BARK! requires Club Membership for the indoor and outdoor park areas (except the Traveler's Rest Area). Doggie Day Care and cage-free, hotel-style Boarding will provide a respite for dog owners, and a safe place for visitors to leave their canine pals while they enjoy a round of golf, off-road adventure or night on the town.
Our overall vision is to create both a much-needed local business and a destination for visitors to the area. The park will be truly unique while offering services that are currently unavailable in Mesquite. We want to bring the dog community together in a fun, safe, comfortable and attractive facility that will make Mesquite a dog-lovers dream. - Mark & Susan
